S4:E29 Decisions that Make or Break Your Fly Fishing Day

A day on the river always comes with a series of decisions that can make or break your fly fishing day. In this episode, we identify a few of those and discuss how we go about moving from decision to decision. For example, one nagging question is, “How quickly should I move to something else if what I first put on isn’t working?” That’s only one of many small decisions that a fly fisher makes throughout the day.

  1. You mentioned fly fishing during snowfall. To me fly fishing during a snow storm especially those big fluffy snowflake type of snowfall is the most beautiful time to be on the stream. First off most times you have the stream for yourselves. Second it’s just down right peaceful. Third some of my largest trout I’ve caught was during a snowfall. As a fly fisherman what more can you ask for ? Beautiful, Solitude, peacefulness and large trout . Just remember to bring a thermos of hot coco and warm clothing and enjoy .

    1. You’re right, David … you can’t ask for anything more than a day on the river when the snow is softly falling and the fish are rising. Thanks for taking part of your Christmas Day to listen to a podcast!
