Hey!
I wanted to contact you directly following one of your article:
https://2guysandariver.com/know-your-pattern-the-prince-nymph
You mentioned that “Doug Prince of Monterey, California, developed it in the late 1930s or early 1940s. His original “Prince Nymph” had a black body, black soft hackle, and a black tail.”
And I would like to know from where you’ve got this information, and where could I find the original pattern?
Many thanks in advance
Fab
Fabien,
I want to apologize for the long time it took for us to post and answer your great question.
Steve and I dug through our notes … and for the life of us, we can’t find the source for “Doug Prince developing the fly.” Steve wrote that piece, and he is the consummate researcher (he has a PH.D. in linguistics!). But for some reason, we can’t locate the source. My best guess is it was a book published before the Internet hit in the late 1990s. We will continue to look for this
Thanks!
